when u have prepared so much for the class; when u have spent so much time coming up with the resources for the class; when u enter the class with so much anticipation; just to see the class is 1/3 filled. do you know the feeling???

really disappointed with the girls. but what can i do? i had to look at the positive side and continue with the class.

met a parent and talked with some over the phone. parents are always concerned about their children. only children dun see it. i think they'd understand once they have become adults. always the case.

waiting for nadal's semis match. and france - china match as well!!

today i had to go to red cross to settle the donation. then i headed back to school for my magic workshop at 2.30pm.

for the first time in 10 days, i skipped breakfast. just din have the mood to eat. so i ate not so fantastic lunch at 12pm.

the magic workshop was fun. learned some cool tricks. it'd be good if i show them in class or at home but i need some more practice. haha :D magic is the way to teach science now. haha :D

came back and unpancked. i'm still tired but i have Nadal's match to watch. hopefully Nadal wins. he shud be more motivated now since Federer lost in the quarters. Nadal will become the new World No. 1 if he wins the French Open. Go Nadal!!!

China Trip and holidays...

since the school hols have started, i'm gonna blog again. haha :D

First post after a long time: China trip.

Had the best 10 days of my teaching life in China. immersion trip to China. apart from the culture, people and place in China, it was the students who made it a perfect trip for me. they were all crazy, singing songs all the time, looked like zoo keepers, smiling all the time and of course being kids.

actually, i am already missing them. and it has been barely a day. haha. 15 of them and each of them is unique. not weird but unique. haha :D if i am given another chance to go anywhere with these bunch of kids, i'd definitely go!! :D

started the day on a low tone. had some difficulties since i was on course yest. had to do some stuff early in the morning. then had student showing her attitude to me. things to ignore...

then students were noisy in the seminar talk. dun understand what got into them to be restless. they dun see the importance of focusing. they will eventually. hopefully it's not late for them.

but then after lunch, stayed back to teach some students. haha :D made my day. finished 5 topics in less than 2 hours. the best 2 hours of the day. gave me the exact reason y am i in this profession. look at the bright side of the world and move on. good lesson to learn!

Fighting spirit...

Juventus won the first leg 3-1 at Turin against Fulham. In the return leg, Juve scored first; making it 4-1 in aggregate. Fulham had to score at least 3 in order to bring the game into extra time. Scoring one goal in a game is difficult. Against an Italian team, the difficulty is doubled. However, Fulham did not give up. They fought till the end and went one step higher. They scored 4 goals in the normal time. Wow, their fighting spirit is admirable.

is winning really everything?? no matter how u win, as long as u win; is that the mentality we are having?? sometimes, i wonder why do people feel useless when they lose.

i have been in a lot of competitions. well, to be honest, i have lost more than i have won. but i am not depressed. neither do i feel useless. winning n losing is just a part of the game. u can't be the best all the time but u can be at your best anytime u want. it's quite difficult to make people understand that losing to a better person or team is absolutely fine.

when u lose, don't lose the lesson. find the ways to improve. and life goes on. u'll be happy always without losing the hunger for success. just give ur best for every game and be satisfied! winning alone isn't everything!! :D

i have not been bloggin for sometime... but i guess i need to write something bout my b'day. cut a cake with my kids. so nice of them to surprise me with a simple yet memorable celebration. Thank you, girls!!!

spent the whole day in school! parents' night till about 9pm. came back at 10pm and cut the 4th cake at 11.59pm. what a day!!

being very busy at the moment. work's overwhelming as usual. i'm still adjusting to the busy life style. making it a point to take a break here n there. can't work 24/7. not good for me and for the people around me.

life's good. and getting better! hopefully, 2010 wud be a wonderful year!!

timetable changed 4 times. i really feel for the teachers who have to come up with new timetable all the time. it is not an easy job. anyway, well done!

i have been in school for 12 hours almost everyday. even went to school on sat for CCA orientation. busy week but it was fun!!

my only resolution this year is to have time for myself! must have work life balance! coz i'm still finding it! it's quite difficult but it is not impossible. gambate!!

i love my classes. must plan more lessons now. a challenging job! hopefully it's a great year ahead. happy new year people!!

met up with my fellow teacher friends last night for dinner. it has been such a long time since i sat and joked with them. they all look the same if not more handsome and more beautiful. haha :D whenever i have any problems in teaching or any related matters, these are the people who i turn to. fantabulous people!! thank you people!!!

talking about fantabulous people, 3/7 '09 is definitely one of the best classes ever i have taught. very smart people who know where the ground is. they are down to earth despite being the cream of the school. i love teaching them coz i love to challenge them. my first CSI lesson was with them, which turned out to be a huge success. In fact, i got my distinction in my practicum mainly because of them. Taught them both pure bio and chem. well, i miss teaching them, really. hopefully, i will have the chance to teach such class again. i wont be teaching them as more experienced and capable teachers will take over and groom them to get all the As they need in their Os. however, should they have any queries, i will always be there to render my help to them! :D Trust me, anyone would wanna be a teacher after teaching the class!!

friday night last week, i started to clean up my room. it took me more than 4 hours to clean my room and my room is not that big. it shows how often i clean up my room.

i put up the cards given to me by my students on the wall. this is to encourage me to go to school everyday. haha :D talking about the cards, most of my cards are from 2/6 '09. very interesting class. in fact they are forcing me to post something about them. and here it is. 2/6 is such a wonderful class. too bad they all will be in different classes next year. hopefully i can teach at least some of them. if all the classes are like 2/6, anyone would wanna be a teacher. haha :D

weekend well spent because i could wake up at 10 am on both days. haha :D met some new friends of my sister's and played LAN game with my Uni friends. it was cool. a way to de-stress...

life's getting better.... cant wait for the next weekend!!

it has been just a week since the last meeting and i'm already missing my kids.... ganja, how am i gonna survive another 2 months.

they create problems, get into troubles, etc. but i still love them. sometimes i wonder what is it that they dun understand. they know it's wrong and they still do it!! haha :D next year, it's gonna be different. that's for sure. i know them well enough now!!

it was 2.30am when i woke up. i was so excited to watch the match between the English and German champions. these two teams are arguably the best teams in the group.

20 mins gone and the match was somewhat interesting. Owen was substituted by Berba coz of injury. Berba certainly added a new dimension in Man U's attack. his flicks and precise passes sometimes caught the oppenents backline off guarded.

halftime: 0-0. but it was an entertaining match. the only thing that the game lacked was goals. man u dominated the match but it was Wolfsburg who scored first in the second half. However, it took only 3mins for man u to equalise thru Giggs, scoring his 150th goal. the game pace changed again after that. And Carrick scored the winner 12 minutes from time.

coming from back win again for Man U. never give up attitude is what brought them there. Well Done!!!

i've crossed out everything that needs to be done for the weekend. i'm taking a break now! dun care about what's gonna come in this week. i just wanna relax until the school opens tomoro.

i am now more relaxed and composed especially when i'm dealing with my students. They can't seem to see the bigger picture. well, what can we expect from 13 year old kids. must guide them to think and stay positive. it's a tough job since there are a lot of adults who don't see anything in a positive way.

Man U won the derby match. that's the spirit. never-say-die attitude. i wish i could relate this to my students. haha :D must force them to watch footy!! :D

one goal down in the first minute; one man down for the last half an hour; it was a tough game but Man U emerged as winners. Their passing were good and they did not give up until the last minute. Everyone played very well. including Berba who was booed for every touch. Way to go Berba. Fletcher was awesome. respect, bro!

Life is so unpredictable. though it may not be true for some of us, everyone actually has equal chances to be successful. just dun give up and keep working hard.

this term break has been very relaxing for me. i had time for myself and getting back to myself. i am still busy but not that stressful. need to go to school tom for PW meeting and Sci meeting.

i really wanted to go to KL tomorrow but realized that i wouldn't have enough time to prepare for lessons. Vino's birthday was last thurs and i have not seen her. bad bf, i guess. but who can get such an understanding girl. bad but lucky. haha :D hang on, girl. i shall make it up for ya. i have a lifetime to do so.

Brazil has qualified to 2010 FIFA World Cup. Hopefully Argentina follows. England is one win away and they are playing tonight. Dream final would be England VS Brazil!! let's see!!!

well, i have survived one term as a full fledge teacher. instead of being happy about it, i feel very down. i feel that i have not improved. i tried my very best to guide my students but i couldn't see any improvements. in fact things are getting from bad to worse.

i feel betrayed by my own girls. i have so much trust in them to be better students but some of them just don't get it. not sure when are they gonna realise that.

to de-stress myself, i went to play football. injured my leg. not sure whether i can walk tomorrow. must try....

i'm trying to stay positive and be happy but at the moment, i just can't. it'll take time. let's see....

well, we are asked to queue up (the students got their revenge on us) and we were served breakfast in the hall.... our student leaders wanna be waitress!! :D

i was treated like a king but after that, i went out to become a 'karang guni' guy. :D a CIP on teachers' day! it was fun though. i was with half of 3.8 students and they were so funny and made the whole thing enjoyable...

i was late for my PW class coz the vendor made me wait for more than an hour. i had to take care of the old newspapers and clothes until he came to collect. was a bit pissed. but it's okay! must stay positive!!

PW presentation was fun. everyone read the presentation slides rather than really presenting. haha :D but i could see the effort put by them. appreciate it!

it has been over a month!!! my goodness, time just flies!!! well, a lot of things happened in this one month. i was down with H1N1 (doc said the probability is over 90%) and given 7 days MC. once i was back, i was flooded with work. markings and catching up of syllabus.

i'm now completing the work given to me one by one. i'm almost at the last hurdle. should be able to finish everything by this weekend, hopefully!! hehe :P

anyways, time to rest now!!!

school's not bad after all.... just that i feel that my kids seem to be bored in my class sometimes... a boring topic, so i have no idea how to make it interesting. maybe it takes a more experienced teacher to do that!! ganja...

i have been trying to plan interesting lessons for my kids. but since i'm quite busy with some other stuffs, i feel that the time spent for planning lessons is becoming shorter and shorter. weekends used to be the days my brain works the most but now, i just wanna rest. ganja la!!

i guess this is not what i wanna do or who i wanna be. i have to get my priorities right. i will concentrate more on planning lessons and do other stuffs if i have time. haha :D should be that way!!

i dun work very well under pressure... so whenever pressure is given to me, i'll try take it easy and do it in my style....

i din realise that being a teacher can be so stressful at times. people say teaching is so easy. teach the same thing in years and the working hours is shorter. haha :D i bet u, no teacher has said that. other than waking up before 6 everyday, teachers have to work during weekends. it gets longer when exams are around. u have to motivate the students, go for extra classes and u may be the one who sets the paper.

i need to get use to the life. though the teaching part is enjoyable, sometimes students might not appreciate it which can lead u into depression. admin work can kill you as it piles up as the time goes and you have to meet the parents to discuss about their kids. parents might need to discuss about 1 or 2 kids at most but teachers, more than 40 kids. :D

after an exhausting year, the only thing that teacher can look for is the 3 weeks december holidays. we have to refresh ourselves before starting all over again!!

First day in school!!

with H1N1 influenza virus spreading freely in Singapore, i went to school after 2 months break. first day of school was very stressful. i came to know that i am the form teacher of sec 1NA. quite interesting bunch of kids. but the admin work can kill!! hehe :P

i'm also teaching sec 2NT science and sec 3 pure bio. teaching load is not that heavy but being a form teacher covers everything!! not my kind of work but i have to give my best!!

let's see how it goes for this semester!! still a long way to go.... can't actually say anything after the first day!!

we arrived in phuket on 14 June. if u r there, bargain the taxi/minivan price. we managed to get a minivan with 100 baht each. so it's quite cheap.

we went to patong beach, the most developed (over developed) town in phuket. night life there is something to see but not to look forward too. and be careful; every 10 females u see, 9 of them used to be males. :P

we had a good time - rafting, snorkeling, riding ATV, shopping, eating, etc. etc. it was a good 4 days there. but i still feel that the chorals in phuket are not as beautiful as the ones in Redang or Perhentian.

Next stop - Bangkok!!

let's start with the first stop!! KL and Genting!!! 4 of us started our 'journey' to KL on Fri 12 June. it was a good ride back to KL. only that my bro was stuck in the traffic jam while on his way yo pick us up. we slept in my bro's place.

Next day, Genting!!! we couldn't get the bus; so we had to take the cab. ganja, the ride up to Genting was so 'good' that we din need a roller coaster ride at the theme park!!! i was so glad that we reached genting ALIVE!! haha :D

Since there are 'underage' readers here, i won't describe what exactly went on inside there. i learned a lot about probability and smart moves. But we ended the day perfectly, if u know what i mean!! :D

we had wantan mee at chinatown (Petaling Street) in KL before heading to the airport! next stop.... PHUKET!!!!

Vinodh's Wedding

i was helping out in Vinodh's wedding by baby-sitting all the kids. 5 of them (4 boys and a girl). well, after seeing the wedding preparation and baby-sitting, i realised that i am not ready for marriage; neither am i ready to become a father. :D

We clinched the 18th Premier League title just now. 0-0 against Arsenal was just enough to lift the Barclays Premier League Trophy!!

Man U have been consistent throughout the season. Though we had some demoralizing moments such as 1-4 drubbing against Liverpool, we came back!! we fought every minute after that as if it was the last minute of the season. this is exactly the quality that a champion needs. so it paid off!! we are the Champion for the 18th time. A lot of moral values behind football!! never give up, teamwork, consistent improvement and hardwork. who said football is only about 22 men fighting for one ball???

i have finished teaching for my practicum.... 8 weeks of teaching.... i must admit that i was very lucky to get those classes... i learned a lot form them as well! they were very supportive and they were the main reason i go to school everyday with smiles! i realise how much i enjoy teaching after teaching them...

most probably i wont be teaching any of them... but i'm still their teacher! i will get new students and i know the students will be equally good as my current students, but i'll miss them!

planning and executing CSI lessons have been an enjoyable experience for me... i should do more for future classes!! :D but there is syllabus to cover... must come up with new ways to explain a concept using those activities!! there goes my brain cells!!

overall, the 8 weeks have been wonderful for me! probably the best 8 weeks!!! other than a stunning staff culture, students have been great! must be lucky to be in the school in the first place!! consistent improvement is my goal now!!!

A good football match....

I have always been playing football with Jason and his friends. we actually participated in a tournament and yesterday afternoon was the first game. We were against this experienced team (they looked older than us) and 2 goals up in the beginning of the second half.

however, i think we slacked! and we were tired as well!! no match fitness. our opponent staged a remarkable come back, scoring 3 goals; the last goal in the dying minutes. i truly admire their fighting spirit. they did not give up and tried till the last minute. something for us to learn. anything can happen until the final whistle is blown.

we have to get ready for our next match. just to have fun playing and try to win matches. so far, we have 0 points!!

Evening of Music, Dance and Drama...

Last wednesday, i went to Victoria Hall to watch EMDD performance by KC girls. Michael invited me as he is a teacher there. It was a weekday night, so i was a bit reluctant at first. but then, to show my support, i agreed to attend.

i made the right choice. the performance was awesome. i din know KC girls are so talented. even the teachers are ganja talented. :D i enjoyed the performance from the beginning till the end. good show!! came back after 11 but i had a good time.

i was very down from monday through wednesday...

but on thursday early morning, i watched the game between man u and porto which man u won. that really gave me the confidence of making the impossible possible. i was rejuvenated!!! with the confidence, i conducted the Chem lesson on CSI. it went well!! My CT was impressed.

Later, Dr. Hoh asked me to be prepared for all lessons as the moderator might come anytime. i prepared as usual. On friday, Dr. Tan Aik Ling came to school. i was so happy to see her. she's a wonderful teacher. i really enjoyed her classes at NIE.

After her observation, i felt very relieved. my class was good, though they were noisy at times.

i met my friends again this week. everyone's fine and can't wait to go back to NIE. haha :D the week has turned out to be a good one for me!! i have to work harder and keep improving!!

Feeling down....

the week has been bad for me... maybe because of my lessons... maybe coz my students did not understand the lesson... well, now is not the time to give up and giving up is just not me!! i have to work harder and hope that students will understand things that i introduce!

a few of them today made my day. i was totally down until i met this group of students who said that please continue to teach us! those simple words from them really motivated me. what does a teacher want? teachers are working so hard to plan lessons, make sure students get the best all the time and what do they get in return? more money??? nope! it is the satisfaction that we get when students nod after learning something. or the phrase, yes, now i understand!! these are the things which keep us going everyday!!

CSI 2...

well, my second CSI did not go as well as the first CSI. I tried giving the case first without going through the syllabus as the students have gone through digestive system in secondary 2. haha :D the students are still the same. Who on earth would still remember what he/she has studied last year?? wrong assumption!!!

Lesson to learn. next time, i will be more careful!! i just din wanna repeat the same thing that they have studied last year. so i tried new things. it's ok. hopefully, students learned something today on decision making, group work, thought process and/or data analysis. hopefully they learned something... i did!!

back to lesson planning!! must plan lesson that more engaging!! games, maybe!!!

a busy weekend!!

this week, my friends are i decided to take a break from gathering. everyone is busy now. lesson observations, assessments, bla bla bla. i think this is the time when everyone is dead busy and having observations at the same time. even i'm working during the weekends. oh my god!!!

preparing for lessons is never easy. usually, we don't appreciate any lessons. we go into the class, listen to the teacher, do the homework he/she gives and the cycle repeats. Most of us don't really know how much of time and effort the teacher put in to prepare a lesson. it's crazy. well, only a teacher knows another teacher's feelings!!

i still met up with Michael for supper on friday night. we had a good chat. then on sat evening, i met Ding Li and Cheryl. all of us are surviving at the moment. Things are getting tougher, it seems. To be honest, i must be very lucky to be in this school with the teachers. some of the senior teachers in other schools are just unbelievable!! demanding us to do things that they can't even think of!! ganja!!

but, i know, after practicum, when we all look back, it would be a wonderful and meaningful experience.

i'm currently teaching my sec 3 students both pure bio and pure chem. on Wednesday, co-incidentally, i had chem after bio. Bio class is in the lab while chem class is in the classroom.

After the bio class, some students stayed back and asked me questions. i was delighted to see their enthusiasm in knowing more about enzymes. i answered almost all the question. i asked them to go back to class as i was supposed to enter their class for chem. after packing up, i rushed to the class. and to my surprise, it was not my students sitting in the class. It was the correct class with different students!!

The whole class played a prank on me. well, after sometime, i asked the class to go back. i asked them to tell my class students that i was very angry. hehe :P

when my students came back from the other class, i did not smile. they were told that i was very angry. i started the class straight away and i could see the shock in my students' eyes. i continued and they were very quiet. and to add to the effect, i slammed the door. :D well, i wonder who got fooled!!

i met up with my teacher friends again this week. this time, it was a lunch gathering. we were at the hawker centre near ChompChomp. well, now we feel that we have each other should anything happen to anyone of us. Who said teaching was easy? a lot of stress! Dealing with kids is never easy!! :D but that is what keeps us going.

Too bad, Man U lost again... if was the ref's problem... ganja!!! Chelsea lost too, which din make me so depressed.... Liverpool are playing today!! :(

importance of language!

Well, the importance of language is underestimated. people think as long as one can understand what another is saying, communication is taking place and that is all they need. well, fair enough. i used to think like that. but coming to singapore actually changed my perception about English language.

I used to hate the language because of my teachers. i always felt people who speak a good english boast around. There are a lot of them back in my hometown. some of them are my relatives. so i hated english... :D

Now, i realised that English language is very important. for an instance, u might have the best idea in the world or u have found something new from ur research; but if u can't present it well, it's no use. To present them, u need the language.

so people, dun take english language for granted. master it!!

I told myself that I have to watch this match. This would be my first Champions League match for the season. So i set my alarm at 3.30am. However, i could not sleep. I woke up at 2.45am thinking that i have nowhere to watch. Actually, in my dreams, the coffee shop that i use to go was closed. I tried downloading some software to stream the channel. My hopes were fading. Only then i realised why am i even trying to watch online in the first place. I haven't even gone to the coffee shop yet!!! :P

So i quickly freshened up myself to go out. Then it struck my mind that what if the match goes into extra-time? penalties? do i have enough time to come back and to get ready to school? No i don't. haha :D. i took my shower and gotten ready for school. just that the route i took was not to school but to the coffee shop. I looked a bit over-dressed. Dressed like an office guy at 4am in the morning and watching football in a coffee shop. :P

by the time i reached the coffee shop, it was already 1-0. Simply means, there would not be any extra time. Sharkz. but the game was good. Man U was attacking all the time and they missed quite a few chances. Inter Milan had their chances too. Mourinho looked devastated after the final whistle. Actually, he looked like that throughout the match.

The referee blew the final whistle and it was 5.30 am. I had like 1 hour plus to my normal going to school time. so i came back, resting while blogging now. haha :D. Life is good....

English champion beat Italian Champion by 2 goals to nil. Well done Man U!!! Glory, glory, Man United.......

teachers, after spending the whole week planning and conducting lessons, need a break at the end of it. Well, we make sure that we meet every friday to have a chat and share our frustrations, jokes, anger, etc. This is just to make sure that we have each other to laugh and cry together.

being a teacher is not easy as it looks. the level of stress we face everyday is enormous. i salute those teachers who are in the service for more than 5 years.

well, the teachers in the school are very friendly and supportive. the office staffs are very helpful as well. i think i'm in good hands! my other trainee teachers are fun. basically, i'm enjoying my stay in St. Anthony's Canossian Secondary School. Though it is still a long way to establish myself as i did in Chong Boon Sec Sch, i think i'm on the right track.

life's good. i've been trying hard to apply different teaching techniques to teach my students. i haven't started teaching but i've already planned the first two lessons. always, must be ahead because should there be any changes, i would be able to adjust way before.

and i feel very tired and lethargic everytime i come back home. after resting for a while, i just don't feel like going out for dinner. so i decided to cook simple dishes. like nasi goreng today!! haha. at least i have something to eat at home!! :D

last night, Michael, Vinodh and I went out for supper. I thought it was only supper. But both of them had other things in their minds!! no worries, we are all straight and decent guys.

We went to Changi Village for nasi lemak after midnight. everything was nice till Michael said we shall go to the Matilda's house only at 3am. Well, i thot it was just a house. But then, i realised these two gentlemen were talking about the hounted house at Punggol!!!

Oh my god. We even went to the coffee shop nearby to pee so that we wont pee in our pants when we r near the house. can u believe it??? and Michael was serious about filming. He said, "Guys, no filming. I think we should respect 'them'!" who would wanna video anything? i was getting ready to run anytime. my adrenaline was pumping since they mentioned the house. It's no longer fight or flight. It was only FLIGHT!!

So we went there. we were the only souls there. It was very quiet. The moment we stepped out of the car, the dogs were barking. nice omen! :P i went back into the car. Then Vinodh asked me to come out and Be A Man!! what's there to be a Man? well, we walked towards the house. nothing much, the house was empty, quiet and dark. i'm telling this coz we were 25 meters away from the house. Michael wanted to explore more, Vinodh refused. Good for us! we spent about 5 minutes just looking at the house.

then we went back to the coffee shop to have tea. :D they were talking about they felt breeze la bla bla bla. i was relieved that we were having tea. Only 3 of us. not more not less. :P came back around 3 plus. sleeping after 3am for fifth consecutive nights!!

when i read my students' blog, i always feel i'm unfit. My students play all the time. They play netball and football. Well, i cannot lose to my students. Not that i will wanna play netball, i wanna be fit as well.

i have started playing football every saturday. with Jason and his friends. when i played the first time, i almost died in the middle of the game. after playing for few times, now, i could feel i'm running more. and i'm getting back my stamina. i'm not gonna just sit back and say that age is catching up!! no way!! i wanna keep playing and stay young!!!

and today, i went to the botanical gardens with him to see this particular bird (pita bird). we were literally lying on the road to get the bird's pics. it was an interesting experience for me though. haha :D. i took some pics of the birds as well.

after that, we went to dynamics (dyslexia centre) but it was closed. that was y i went there in the first place. haiya. now i have to finish at least one of the essays.

i went to sentosa the other day. at last, i had the chance to go to the underwaterworld! :D well, i feel that the ticket is over-priced. i'm posted to St. Anthony Canoissan secondary school... my friend said it is a mixed school. so i was fine. but then, i found out that it is an all girls' school, i was shocked. i have never been to a unisex school b4. no prior experience. i'm quite nervous. though the school is very near to my place (about 10 to 15 mins walk), i can't play football with my students. how can i play footy with girls????? and they are girls... against my ethics, man!!!

however, for footy part, i have met a new group to play. they are Jason's church mateys. cool!! at least, i'm starting to play football on a regular basis...

well, today at edu psycho ll class, i was asked to lead a discussion after a video. it was a punishment for me as i stroll in late for class (i had class before that and had to rush to canteen to get a cup of coffee). so i took the notes from the video. i actually did.

after the video, the lecturer asked me to lead the discussion. as i was discussing the topic with my classmates, suddenly, Michael, a very good friend of mine, entered the class with a cake!! omg, only then i realised that even my lecturer was playing prank on me. :D

my classmates sang the birthday song. both cheryl n i cut the cake since cheryl's birthday is on Monday!! (CNY kid). after the class, we enjoyed the cake and went to NYNY for lunch. then i headed to chinatown for my dinner with my ex-NUS friends. what a day......

well, when the whole world is looking at US, i wonder what happened in Singapore. Last time, everyone who was leaving Singapore had to undergo thumbprint scan. No exception (from young to old). Simply coz Mas Selamat was at large. Well, i just realized, people leaving singapore now dun need to have their thumbs scanned at the checkpoint. why???? i dun think Mas Selamat was captured by the local force. do u? Well, whether or not Mas Selamat is hiding in Singapore is still debatable. let's see what happens next!!!

tomorrow, o-level results will be out!! my first batch of students will be receiving their results tomorrow. i'm nervous to even think about it. the results will be out at 2pm. hopefully they'll do well.

i had to go back to jb a few days ago. i had to rush and this old officer at the immigration stopped me. simply coz i din have the re-entry permit stamped on my passport. i went to ICA the other day and i brought everything they gave. and the old guy was in fact rude to me. asking me as if i have never been to singapore. i din wanna argue coz i realised he was not worth a word. actually, the system has changed. from the first of Jan. CHANGED!!! according to another officer, an email regarding the change has been sent to every officer. well, i wonder whether he checks his mail often. he delayed me. coz of him i was almost an hour late. ganja la. changing the system without prior notice. ganja. well, being in singapore, i'm not surprised!!!

the train was crowded on my way back. i had to stand. at this station, not sure where, an old lady boarded the train. there are priority seats for golden citizens, rite. there was this lousy young guy sitting on the seat. the old lady entered and he din even stand up and give the seat to her! believe it or not, the old lady was standing all the way till the train reached her destination. well, this guy is not old, i dun think he's pregnant, so y in the blue hell was he sitting when the seat is reserved for those people. sigh.... that concluded the day for me. frustrating day....

yeah... happy new year!!! life's getting better but the world's economy is getting worse. sigh.... anyway, before stating any resolution for this year, let's see what have i accomplished last year!

i have gained 3 kgs (my hope was to gain 5kgs last year). will try to gain another 2 this year!

other than that, life was simple. nothing special except for the month of december. spent the whole month at home with my parents. went to Taiping to meet Vino once in a while. well, that's y i gained 3 kgs. haha :D

i have a bad news. i might not be posted back to Chong Boon. the probability is quite high. almost 90%. too bad but what to do. anyway, once a chong boonite, always a chong boonite. Chong Boon and its staff n students will always have a special place in my heart! all the best!

it's the last month of the year!!! happy holidays!!!

did u know that the fatwa (group of religious muslim people) has banned yoga in malaysia for malays!! can u believe it?? simply coz they argue that there are chantings in yoga. hindu elements. i dunno y these people are so concern about it. they are simply saying that if there are other elements (except for muslim), malay people will convert. funny, rite. then, there's no point of globalisation. malay people must not use the roads named after non-muslim people. malaysia must not celebrate christmas, deepavali, or chinese new year. at least malay people should not be given holidays for these festivals.

the sultans have replied reasonably. for that i salute the royals. fatwa pep cannot announce anything regarding Islam wihout consulting the royals. And the sultans were shocked to know it. A lot of states are holding the ban but for Sabah. Few malays there anyway. my god!!!

hopefully there wont be any race riots in near future....

earlier in the day, i met another friend. we talked about our problems and how to solve them. well, problems are there for a reason. problems make us wiser, stronger and give us the reason to appreciate life. that's good. but if we keep thinking only about problems, we are being unfair to our lives. finally, i'm back home for Deepavali!! last year, my deepavali celebration was in Chong Boon. The second home at that time. But now, i'm back with my family!! cooooooool!!!!

the trip back here was tricky though... i bought the coach ticket two weeks ago and was promised a 3 seater coach at 9.30pm. The bus came at 11pm and the bus that came was a company bus!! BAS KILANG!!!! ganja. 10 hours journey in that 4 seater cramped up bus!! i was suffering to sit as my knees were knocking the front seat everytime the bus stopped. to add onto what has happened, i was asked to alight along the highway near my place. really a bumpy ride. had to call back home and dad came to pick me up!!

anyway, once i reach home, when i hugged my mum, all my anger and frustration eased off. mum's hug is the best!! now, i'm in the mood to celebrate Deepavali!!! HAPPY DEEPAVALI!!!!

man, when u have 5 assignments to submit and 4 presentations in one week, u feel that the world is revolving very slowly. just wanna get done with it. i'm so much relieved now that my 5 assignments are done. phew!!!

now, i have one more lesson plan and one more 2000 words essay due next week. after which i'm off back home to celebrate deepavali!!! haha !! must celebrate to the max.

realized that my students are getting back their marks for chem and science. but i din have time to check on them. now that i'm a bit free, i can ask them or meet up with them. cool!!! what i need now is just a good sleep. to refresh myself. to compensate few nights' sleep. keep dreaming about my presentation. how bad can that be. hahaha :D

i watched a video on a talk given by a distinguish speaker, Mr. Adam Khoo. He's 33 and was a self-made millionaire when he was 26. He has gone through a lot of hard times before being at the summit. I would say he's one of the very successful entrepreneur in Singapore. and he deals with motivations.

he said that there are no concentration-deficit students. only boring teachers. well, i think i have to agree on that. However, when content is involved, it's also depends on the syllabus. and a teacher's performance must not merely judged by students' performances. There's only a certain limit to what teachers can do coz of time, workload and commitments.

another quote would be, u can't change what's happening to u, but u can change what's happening in u. This is a good line. if u want others to change, u have to change first. I dun think many of us understand this and we tend to blame others for everything. y are we giving the power to others?

it's was a good session watching his video. really inspiring. very few of us think the way he does. that's exactly y he is up there.

p/s when God closes the door, we say He's unfair. He never keeps the door locked and still gave us the choice on whether to go out or not!

in this world, money is very important. but it's neither the most nor the only important thing in our lives. i dun understand some of them who worship money. Y r they becoming the slaves of money? money should be our friend not our boss!!!

i have met few who talk about money all the time. As in how much can i get; how less do i have to pay; i must get more money; if they are not paying, i'm not doing. if we dun put the money on the table, we cannot talk with them. i think in near future, i have to pay them to talk to them. Ganja!!!

Money is just a tool of business. i know how important it is to our expensive daily lives, but do not lose ur human touch and your humanity coz of it. all da best to all of you who worship money!!! think about others who appreciates money but knows how to live happily!

the opening ceremony was one of the best. it had lots of colours, fireworks and performances. but all that was 'contaminated' by one incident. well, there was this little cute girl who sang a song on the day. very cute and claimed a lot of praises from a lot of viewers. but then, the truth is, she was not the one who actually sang the song. she was there only for the cameras.

now, how shocking is that. where is the actual real girl who sang? well, this piece of news that i read from the news is even more shocking. she was actually sidelined because she doesn't look cute enough for the cameras. how about that???

firstly, the host country spent so much money in the opening ceremony when people in other parts of the country are still suffering from the natural disaster. and now, this news. i dun understand who gave them the rights to determine who's cute or not. that lil girl who actually sang the song is cute. she has uneven teeth. so what????? that's a kind of beauty to admire. i feel that those people who actually decided to sideline the girl must come to Chong Boon to learn the PRIDE values. Respect!!!!

i have been teaching moles, electron configuration, bondings, bla bla chemistry for a year. Now, i'm back to my chem class. as a student. studying everything again. though what i'm studying now is more than secondary school syllabus, but it's weird to be a chem student. haha....

life in NIE is fine. quite bored without students but i'm getting new freinds now. sharing the same passion in teaching and quite happening. with they being the future teachers, i guess the next generation of students will benefit. :D

for a year, i was in Chong Boon. Din get sick even a day. din take MC even for a day. my attendance is 100%. one week after i left Chong Boon, i was sick and still am. it's post Chong Boon syndrome. hehe... the students are missing me so much!!!

Once a chongboonite, always a chongboonite! this is what Mrs. Menon, the Principal of CBSS, told me the other day. it's nice, isn't it.

my last day in school.... my 52nd week and 361st day in CBSS as a teacher is my last day in school. a bit sad. and i'm gonna miss everyone here especially 4e1 and 2e3. u guys rock!!!

Those are not choral reefs or bread gone bad. Those are lungs of smokers. its gross, isn't it? imagine this is what u have inside you?

but non-smokers, not to worry. your lungs would be fine. This is one part i dun understand. y do people smoke? to release their stress? how to? i think it'll only build up the stress looking at the harm it can bring. just a bit puff, u'll get addicted and suffer the rest of ur life. furthermore, you are affecting the people around you.

nowadays, even students are smoking. they think it looks cool to smoke. looks manly. i said it's utterly bullshit and many people will agree with me. you wanna look cool, develop your talents. anyone can smoke. those who don't are cool.

i guess people will only learn the hard way. wasting money puffing away isn't a good thing to do. with that money, you can eat more or go for a movie. cool, rite. let's see what's there in a cigarette.

p/s it's proved that nicotine (the thing which makes u addicted) in cigarettes smoke has increased 10% since 1998. better watch out!!!

Real meaning of busy....

yesterday was the busiest day of my life.... i had reliefs and classes in the morning, student consultation right after school, rushed to take my lunch coz i was already late to my meeting. when i entered 10minutes after the meeting started, i came to know that i was the rapportuer for the day. ganja. actually it was Mr. Vinodh. so i just helped him.

We were supposed to go off early as we (Mr. Vinodh and I) were in charge of the night study programme. but we couldn't go till 5.30pm coz we were taking minutes till then. so we had like 30 minutes to freshen up and get ready to night study. i was teaching all the way till 9pm. once i hit the bed, i was unconcious.

the only good thing happened yest was the presentation by the apple people. apple computers are so cool. the presenter opened so many programmes to demo to us and it was not even a second the computer lagged. that defines the stability of apple computers. gonna get one soon since there's a promotion for teachers. haha. getting iPhone too. hopefully. have to start saving from now....

Bridging gaps....

well, i'm working with people in the age range of 13-17. they are called teenagers. haha :D. its fun to work with them coz they remind me about my teenage life. though it was not so happening, it was really fun. but there's one thing common in teenagers lives. problems with their parents.

girls tend to have problems with mums and boys with dads. this is what i call the generation gap. the real gap. when the parents were young, they were not given freedom to enjoy their lives. freedom as in coming back late, spending so much, talking back at their elders, etc. now, the teenagers are demanding these. and the parents don't understand y and clashes often happen.

what do u think the real solution? to give the freedom the teenagers are demanding n let them go out of control, or restrain them from things which the parents think are inappropriate. it's actually difficult but nothing is impossible. let's see...

Sad....

Teachers were given timetables at staff meeting yesterday.... i din get any. instead of being happy, i was very sad. No more classes, no more assistant form teacher, no more teaching and no more splitting any classes. i'm gonna be bored for another 4 weeks. gonna miss my students but what to do. As an NIE trainee, I can only observe classes.

but then i guess i'll be back to teaching after school. students can ask me any questions regarding chem or science after 1.45pm. maybe life will be back to normal after school. haha :D

last day of school is on the 18 July 2008. dunno whether to be excited or depressed.......

Busy.... Busy!!!

For the past few days, i have been very busy. We are having Chong Boon Ideas Day tomorrow and i'm in-charge of the logistics. In addition to that, i had classes and had to run to NIE for my registration and briefing.

Liz is flying to US today and will be back in August. was very busy till i din have time to send her off. maybe i can be there to receive her... hopefully!

I'm back to my busy schedule. trying my best to have ample rest so that i'll be always at my best. Rest is important or i'll be sitting at home on MCs. haha :D

Tonight matches will complete the quarter-finals draw. Spain against Italy and Portugal against Germany are must watch games. Holland will be up against either Sweden or Russia and we can watch the game for Holland's way of game. Cool!! and bye bye France. haha.

Another long day tomorrow.....

i decided to stay back in school on friday night since i have lots of things to do at home. no idea where to start. so decided to have a kit kat.

coincidentally, NPCC and Red Cross were having campfire... haha :D so my stay was meaningful after all. went down to witness the fun they were having... campfire, its all about fun. furthermore with Chia Hao, Siti, Arie, Ain and Melvin... can expect nothing less...
